MHRA have written to Íø±¬ºÚÁÏ to provide some additional information regarding a recent European review on the risk of chemical burns in neonates following the use of chlorhexidine solutions for skin antisepsis

MHRA have written to Íø±¬ºÚÁÏÌýto provide some additional information regarding a recent European review on the risk of chemical burns in neonates following the use of chlorhexidine solutions for skin antisepsis.

ÌýThe evidence assessed came mainly from reports on the use of chlorhexidine prior to central venous catheterisation. However, the MHRA consider that this information is potentially relevant to any disinfection skin procedure when chlorhexidine solutions are used.

MHRA also wanted to take the opportunity to remind you to report any suspected adverse reactions to chlorhexidine or any other medicine via the Yellow Card SchemeÌý(Ìý)
